Construction Diary Week 6: When a construction site slowly transforms into a Wellness Area

At Hotel Hochschober, the vision of the new Arena Sauna is becoming more visible week by week. While intensive work continues outside, the interior is already revealing more and more of what the new wellness area directly by Lake Turrach will look like in the future.

One particularly striking feature is the curved “wave” of the roof. This has now been completely sealed with flame treatment, as has the remaining roof area. Work on the technical infrastructure is also progressing rapidly. A trench is currently being dug from the technical room towards the Siegel property, through which the new extension will later be connected to district heating and electricity.

Interior construction gains momentum

Several trades are currently working in parallel inside the building. The supports for the staircase are being installed while preparations for the large glass front are already underway. Step by step, the future rooms of the new Arena Sauna are taking shape.

Tiling work is also making great progress. The first surfaces inside the sauna have already been tiled, while tiles are currently being installed on several columns. The showers and restroom areas are also beginning to take on their final appearance: the pipes for the underfloor heating have been laid and the screed has been completed.

At the same time, the installers are continuing work on additional pipes and technical systems. The distributors for the underfloor heating have already been installed and the project remains well on schedule. Electricians are also continuing their work intensively in the technical room.

The plunge pool takes shape

Another important milestone this week: the new plunge pool is currently being concreted. Its shape is now clearly visible and already gives a first impression of how the new wellness area will blend into the lakeside landscape in the future.

Drywall construction is also progressing visibly. Following the rear section, work has now started in the front area as well. The window installers are currently mounting the frames and preparing the large glass surfaces that will later provide plenty of natural light and unobstructed views of Lake Turrach.

Fully on schedule despite snow

Even winter weather conditions have not slowed construction progress. Despite snowfall, work is continuing according to plan. The flame-sealing work on the roof was able to continue quickly during good weather, while interior construction is also developing dynamically.

The stones for the staircase have already been lifted into the building and placed in their final position. Preparations for the next screed works are currently underway.

Another exciting highlight is just around the corner: the new sauna will already be delivered at the beginning of next week. At the same time, the installation of further window elements will continue.

Progress also at the employee residence

Not only the Arena Sauna is growing visibly. Work on the new employee residence is also progressing well. Pillars are continuously being installed while the concrete works in the rear section are moving forward. In addition, work on the foundation slab has already begun and is expected to be completed next week.

In summary: many details, major progress

Week 6 impressively shows how planning and shell construction are gradually turning into a new place of wellbeing. Especially the interior construction now brings visible changes almost every day. Tiles, windows, technology, underfloor heating and the plunge pool already give a clear impression of the special atmosphere guests can look forward to in the new Arena Sauna from summer 2026 onwards.
