Intermittent Indulgence

New from summer 2024:
Intermittent fasting in a 16:8 rhythm.

Healthy & fit at the gourmet hotel

How can the joy of eating be combined with a nourishing diet? For more and more people, the 16:8 principle is the preferred choice: the body has 16 hours to relax and regenerate, with eating times restricted to an 8-hour window. Those who try it, soon feel positive effects - from increased vitality to weight loss.

From June 2024, the Gourmet hotel Kärnten will also offer the opportunity to enjoy or try the 16:8 rhythm. As a new option - also for those who prefer early dinners - there is the early dinner, served between 4:30 PM and 6 PM. To allow the kitchen and service to prepare accordingly, registration is required either when booking your holiday or on-site, at the latest on the day before.

The key to successful intermittent fasting at Hochschober:
  • Enjoy a late breakfast around 10 am. Until 11 am, the breakfast buffet offers everything your heart and palate desire, including vegan alternatives
  • If you wish, treat yourself to a lunch snack between 12:30 PM and 3 PM. The buffet offers salads, soups, cakes, and a dish of the day
  • From 4:30 pm to 6 pm, enjoy the early dinner, served for all intermittent diners in the Bauernstube. Chef Arnold Pucher and his team ensure that the menu consists of light and digestible dishes, always with vegetarian and vegan alternatives
  • If hunger or thirst strikes in between, you'll find healthy snacks and drinks at various locations in the hotel
Good to know

Regardless of rhythms, the early, light dinner is a new option for all guests. For example, for those who prefer to have an early breakfast, lunch, and an early dinner.

Take recovery seriously
Take your time for a blissful visit to the wellness area.
The principle of a holistic lifestyle
  • Going to bed early is a pleasurable option for those who eat in the 16:8 rhythm. The mountain air and the scent of pine promote good sleep - best with an open window. Before the late breakfast, there is plenty of time for a walk in the fresh air, swimming in the See-Bad, a session of Aqua Fitness or yoga, or a workout in the yoga
  • After the early dinner, a visit to the wellness area is a great idea (until 7 pm). Or how about a walk around Lake Turrach or to the Grünsee? Other options include reading sessions in the Wortreich library or in the Kaminhalle - where the bar team spoils you with drinks and cocktails with and without alcohol. There are all kinds of board games available. It's also nice to end the day with a drink on the terrace in front of the hotel, strolling through the Alpine park, or playing billiards in the sports bar
Intermittent fasting - Intermittent indulgence

Usually, this form of eating is called "intermittent fasting." At the gourmet hotel Hochschober in Carinthia, we prefer to call it "intermittent indulgence." The positive effects have been widely studied. Above all, it activates "autophagy," the self-cleaning power of cells. Those who eat lightly early in the evening sleep better, are more rested, and feel more vital overall. Intermittent indulgence also helps to maintain or even lose weight.

A question that may arise during your vacation: Is alcohol allowed during intermittent indulgence? The experts tend to answer "yes, but in moderation." In short: Everyone can decide for themselves.
