Yes, we’re happy to serve drinks in your room for a surcharge of €7.50. Orders can be placed during the restaurant and bar opening hours. For food orders, a service fee of €12.50 applies. Meals can be ordered between 7:00–11:00 a.m., 12:30–3:00 p.m., and 6:30–9:00 p.m.
Hotel Hochschober has been a family and multi-generation hotel for decades. External guests are very welcome to enjoy the 5-course dinner menu that is also prepared for our in-house guests. À-la-carte dishes are not available, but the choice of meals — classic, vegetarian, and vegan — is extensive.
The price for the full culinary experience is currently € 88 for adults and € 48 for children. For children, there is also a small menu with kid-friendly favorites and classics. These dishes are charged à la carte if the full menu is not selected.
There is no strict dress code for dinner at Hotel Hochschober, but we recommend smart casual attire. You’re welcome to dress up if you wish, but it’s not required — the atmosphere is relaxed yet stylish.
Swimwear and bathrobes are not permitted in the restaurants, library, or lounge areas. An exception is made for the See-Stube during the lunchtime buffet. Overall, the dress code is casual, neat, and comfortable.
Our reception is staffed daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. You can settle your bill at any time during these hours.
After 10:00 p.m., a night attendant takes over to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests and staff, making regular rounds throughout the property and staying available for emergencies or special requests. At 5:00 a.m., the early maintenance shift takes over, followed by the morning reception team at 7:00 a.m.
Our guests can fish in Lake Turracher with a valid permit. Hotel Hochschober is one of only three exclusive leaseholders of the fishing waters in the lake. Between July and early September, we also offer introductory fishing sessions twice a week with our experienced fishermen. All necessary equipment is provided free of charge by the hotel.

Temperatures range from a gentle 40°C in the steam baths to around 90°C in the dry saunas.
Yes, Day Spa visits are possible — however, only with advance reservation from Monday to Friday, outside of school holidays and weekends, depending on availability. Yes, some areas are reserved for guests aged 12 and above, marked with a “12+” pictogram. These include the Chinaturm, the sauna area, the Hamam, and the Schlafsack area by the lake. All other spaces are open to guests under 12 as well.
In summer, the 37-meter-deep mountain lake reaches a maximum of 20°C (usually after a prolonged heatwave in August). On average, the water temperature in summer is around 15°C. In winter, it freezes over between mid-November and mid-May with a thick layer of ice. The open Hochschober bay remains ice-free and stays at about 4°C — perfect for ice bathing, guided through supervised sessions and workshops.
Our fitness room is near the Waldvilla and open daily from 7.00 a.m.

The closest hospitals — in Tamsweg, Villach, and Klagenfurt — can be reached within approximately 50–60 minutes. In emergencies, we contact the Johanniter Ambulance Service (based in Patergassen, 15 km away). There is also a helicopter rescue base, Alpin 1, just 15 km from the hotel, staffed during the winter season (December–April).
