Pilates Retreat at Hotel Hochschober at Lake Turracher See
Pilates Week at Hochschober with Julia Leeb
Movement, concentration and body awareness
That’s what Mat Pilates at Hochschober is all about.
This year, Julia Leeb will lead two one-week Pilates workshops at Hochschober: from 22 to 27 March and from 7 to 12 June. Alongside her law studies in Vienna, she is a certified Mat and Reformer Pilates trainer and shares her knowledge with great enthusiasm.
Pilates is a holistic workout for the entire body. It strengthens the muscles, improves posture and flexibility, and at the same time brings calm and focus to the mind. At its core lies the conscious connection between breathing, stability and movement.
The training method is named after the German Joseph Hubertus Pilates (1883–1967). As a young man he moved to England, where he was interned at the beginning of the First World War. To stay fit, he developed a training programme for himself and his fellow internees, which he later continued to refine – first while training the Hamburg police and later in the United States.
In 1926 Joseph Pilates opened his first studio in New York. Dancers and actors were among the first to recognise the value of this method. After his death, his students continued to develop his ideas and pass them on through generations.
Today Pilates inspires people all over the world – including here at Hochschober. Or, as Julia Leeb puts it:
“Pilates strengthens, centres and builds trust in the body.”
