4*s Hotel Hochschober: Construction Diary Week 1

With the start of construction, an exciting phase of development begins at Hochschober: A new lakeside sauna is taking shape directly on the shores of Lake Turracher See, further enhancing the connection between wellness and nature. At the same time, the new staff residence “Wilfried” is being created, providing modern and sustainable living space for our team. In addition, the windows in the “Schlafsack” relaxation room are being replaced to further improve comfort and energy efficiency.

With great dedication and careful preparation, the starting signal for our major redevelopment has been given. The first week of construction marks the beginning of an exciting journey, during which new features will gradually take shape and further enrich your future stay at Hochschober.

Site Setup

The companies involved have successfully settled in. The company Ehrenreich installed several containers at the construction base, creating the necessary infrastructure for smooth operations. The construction site on the opposite Sigl property has also been fully set up.

At the same time, our in-house technicians carried out valuable preparatory work in the existing sauna area: showers, washbasins, and other reusable elements were carefully dismantled. A dust protection wall has been installed to safeguard the adjacent areas during the construction phase.

Initial Excavation Works

The first excavation works began at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 7 April 2026 – just one day after the end of the season. Earthworks are progressing quickly and without complications at both construction sites. Particularly encouraging is the condition of the subsoil: the rock is very soft and can be easily processed with machinery. In addition, the basement of the former Sigl building is being backfilled with the excavated earth.

Farewell to the Panorama Sauna

An emotional moment of this week was the complete dismantling of our Panorama Sauna. For many years, it was a place of relaxation and well-being. It now makes way for new visions that will enrich Hochschober in the future and create even more space for special moments of wellness.

Crane Installation and Window Logistics

Another important milestone was the delivery and installation of the crane. It is positioned where the former Sigl lakeside terrace once stood and will now be used for the upcoming lifting operations.

The company Strussnig, responsible for replacing the windows in the “Schlafsack” relaxation room, was also on site to coordinate the operation. The windows were delivered and successfully lifted to the “Schlafsack” area using the crane. The lifting process went smoothly and without incident. According to the current schedule, the windows are expected to be fully installed by the end of next week, subject to any necessary adjustments in the construction timeline.

Construction Documentary – The Series

Alongside the construction works, a four-part construction documentary is being produced, accompanying the major redevelopment at Hochschober. The first episode will be released next Sunday, offering exciting behind-the-scenes insights into the project. Interviews with the owners, visionaries, planners, and the regional companies involved highlight the impressive teamwork that is bringing these new developments to life within a short period of time.

Each episode will also feature a giveaway. Attentive viewers who spot the hidden clue will have the chance to win an unforgettable stay at Hochschober.
