A new construction phase is about to begin at Hochschober – marking one of the most significant developments of recent years. In the latest episode of the podcast “HOCHinteressant”, hosts Karin Leeb and Martin Klein talk about the background of this project and how Hochschober will continue to evolve in the coming years.

At the heart of the story is the purchase of the neighbouring property – a step that opens up new possibilities. What may initially sound like a simple expansion is, in fact, a carefully considered project for the future. Because every change at Hochschober aims to preserve one thing above all: the unique character of the house.

Three construction phases over the coming years

The planned expansion is divided into three construction phases. Each phase will take place during the hotel’s spring closing period between Easter and the start of the summer season. This ensures that the work can be carried out without affecting guests’ stays.

Plans include:

  • New sauna and wellness areas directly by the lake, even closer to nature
  • Additional relaxation rooms with wide views over the water, forests and mountains
  • New spacious accommodation units for guests

The goal is to further develop Hochschober while preserving the atmosphere that many returning guests have appreciated for years.

Building at 1,800 metres

A construction project on the Turracher Höhe comes with its own special challenges. The altitude, alpine climate and short construction window in spring require precise planning and considerable experience.

In the podcast, Karin Leeb and Martin Klein openly share how such projects take shape – from the first idea and discussions with architects and partners to the many decisions that a family-run hotel makes itself.

Development with responsibility

Hochschober has changed and grown repeatedly over the past decades – and that is part of its success. Standing still has never been an option up here. At the same time, the hosts place great importance on ensuring that every new development fits the hotel, the landscape and the philosophy of the house.

This new construction phase is therefore more than just a building project. It is another step in the story of a house that continues to evolve without losing its roots.
