With & for people
Hotel Hochschober is a traditional family business. The Leeb and Klein family is running the establishment in the third generation. The hotel is a pioneering company in terms of sustainability. In addition to the financial balance, the Hochschober was the first hotel in Austria to draw up a public welfare balance sheet in 2014. It takes into account values such as ethics, solidarity, ecology, social justice, employee participation and transparency.
Employees with joy
The best working conditions, intensive internal exchange and joint study trips ensure that the employees are above-averagely satisfied. The employee academy coordinates further training measures. The hotel also participates in the further education programme of the “Best Alpine Wellness Hotels”.
As the biggest employer in the community, the Hochschober is an important economic factor for the entire region. Wherever possible, the hotel works closely with partners from the surroundings – from the taxi company to the farmers who deliver high-quality delicacies to the hotel. Added value thus remains local, keeping transportat routes short. New construction and conversion works are generally implemented with craftspeople from the region.
Sustainability in the hotel
The hotel has obtained its energy supply from the wood chips factory on the Turracher Höhe since 1997. Current peak monitoring and main circuit breakers in all rooms ensure that the energy consumption is kept as low as possible. Waste prevention and waste separation are instructed on a regular basis. The suppliers predominantly use returnable containers instead of single-use versions. A highly modern waste press compacts all residual waste.
Hotel Hochschober promotes and supports non-profit organisations and local societies, such as the SOS Kinderdorf Carinthia, the special integration service for disabled people Autark, the primary school and the voluntary fire brigade in the village.
Visonary
A few houses stood on the Turracher Höhe in 1929, when Hans and Hilde Leeb opened the "Gasthof Hochschober". Soon thereafter it burned down, was rebuilt, the Second World War followed, then the total renovation. The hotel had 75 beds when Babara and Peter Leeb took over in 1967. In that year the indoor swimming pool and the sauna went into operation. Only a few hotels in Austria had facilities like this at that time. The house grew continuously. In 1995 the worldwide unique lake bath opened, in 1998 the Hamam in the Alps.
In 2003 Peter and Barbara Leeb handed over the hotel to their daughter Karin and her husband Martin Klein. The two enrich the strategy of the special places and offers with new accents. The Chinaturm opened in 2005. This was followed by the children's villa, the youth club, the base camp, the modernisation of almost all the rooms, the word kingdom, the redesign of the crystal spa, the indoor swimming pool and the restaurants. In 2019 the hotel celebrates its 90th birthday with anniversary offers and celebrations.
Karin Leeb & Martin Klein:
We not only want to create the best environment possible for the present day, but also for generations to follow.
