How can the joy of eating be combined with a beneficial dietary practice? For an increasing number of people, the 16:8 principle is becoming the preferred choice: the body has 16 hours to relax and regenerate, with eating periods confined to 8 hours. Those who try it soon experience positive effects – from increased vitality to weight loss.

Starting June 2024, Hotel Hochschober will also offer the opportunity to enjoy or try out the 16:8 rhythm. To allow the kitchen and service staff to prepare accordingly, registration is required either at the time of booking your holiday or on-site at the latest by the day before.

 

Here’s how to best enjoy intermittent dining á la Hochschober:

  • Enjoy a late breakfast from around 10 a.m. The breakfast buffet offers everything your heart and palate desire until 11 a.m., including vegan options.
  • For those who wish, a midday snack is available between 12:30 and 3 p.m. The buffet offers salads, soups, cakes, and a dish of the day.
  • An early dinner follows between 4:30 and 6 p.m., prepared and served for all intermittent enjoyers in the Bauernstube. Head chef Arnold Pucher and his team ensure the menu is light and digestible, always including vegetarian and vegan options.
  • For those feeling peckish or thirsty in between, healthy snacks and drinks are available at several spots throughout the hotel.

 

GOOD TO KNOW

Regardless of the rhythm, the early, light dinner is a new option for all guests, such as those who prefer to have an early breakfast, lunch, and early dinner.

 

What to do in the morning and evening?

  • Going to bed early is a pleasurable option for those dining in the 16:8 rhythm. The mountain air and the scent of Swiss pine promote good sleep – best with the window open. Before the late breakfast, there's ample time for a walk in the fresh air, swimming in the lake-bath, an aqua fitness or yoga session, or a workout in the fitness studio.
  • After the early dinner, a visit to the wellness area is feasible (until 7 p.m.). Or how about a walk around Turracher Lake or to Grünsee? Other options include reading hours in the Wortreich or by the fireplace – where the bar team spoils guests with drinks and cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Board games are, of course, available. Ending the day with a drink on the hotel terrace, strolling through the Alpine park, or playing billiards in the sports bar is also wonderful.

In general parlance, this form of eating is known as "intermittent fasting." At Hotel Hochschober, we prefer to call it "intermittent enjoyment." The positive effects are well-documented, particularly its activation of "autophagy," the cells' self-cleansing power. Eating lightly early in the evening improves sleep, rejuvenation, and overall vitality. Interval enjoyment also helps maintain or even lose weight.

A common question on vacation: Is alcohol allowed with intermittent enjoyment? The expert consensus leans towards "yes, but in moderation." In short: It's up to each individual to decide.
