In 1998 the Hochschober spa hotel in Austria opened the Alps' first hamam. Relaxation and cleansing
Visits to the hamam stimulate the body and the senses in very different ways. The Turkish baths in the Austrian mountains make it easy to achieve a relaxed state of being. The combination of
steam and fragrance in the aroma grottos invigorates or calms the mind – depending on the mix of scents, and has a soothing effect on your well-being.
Cold and warm water treatments will refresh you. Soap and the exfoliating sponge called a "Kese" leave your skin all soft and smooth. To finish off,
fruity teas and
sweet treats will tickle the palate.
Soap and water
Freshly washed and clean! This is how you will feel after a
washing treatment by one of our Telaks, the
hamam masters. The Telak will use a special sponge called a Kese to carefully and vigorously rub you down, massage you skilfully with soap froth and pour alternating splashes of cold and warm water over you. After this, your
skin will feel particularly fine and soft – leaving you feeling cleansed and refreshed from head to toe.
